In the living room, a Faux Finish was applied to the walls, then some Decorative Painting designs were created to add color.
The Melbourne Beach living room before (above) and after (below). The wall basecoat used one of the lighter colors from the sofa, then a darker shade was applied over that with a sponge. A colorful floral decorative painting was added above the door using the pattern from the sofa.
The family room before (above) and after (below). Above from left are the West wall, the North wall, and the East wall with a fireplace framed by pillars. The West wall, which was actually just the triangular section above the entry, was done in a bright Red semi-gloss with Gold glaze sponging. This Red was then "reflected" in the West wall, by doing the pillars in marbelized Red with Gold highlights. The North wall was done with a Creme Brulee base, sponged over with Gold highlights similar to West triangle wall.
At this point, we thought we were finished. Then Papa came home and suggested that the East wall around the fireplace should match the Creme Brulee on the North. In fact, the South wall (not shown) was done in the same color. This webmaster never got pictures of the final completed project -- sorry about that!

Thus ended another episode of Joyce's quest to eliminate White walls everywhere!

The Melbourne Beach Project started as a rather small job, but has ultimately involved going back several times for different areas of the home. The Project originally involved some simple redecorating of the living room. Then, Faux By Joyce was called about a year later to add some highlights in the family room. Later, Joyce went back several times to offer her Interior Design expertise on selection of furnishings, materials, and accessories.

In her most recent visit, Joyce assisted in repairing a little hurricane damage, then added a nice mural over the bar. I've shown the mural immediately below, then included earlier work below that.  Note, the mural is on the left -- that Willi's Wine Bar poster is real, not painted by Joyce.
